Who is Ian K?

As a part of Hardscience Recordings, Ian K has always worked hard to bring hardcore to the people. After many years on the Mic as MC Verbal, Ian K stepped from behind the DJ to behind a computer, banging out his take on UK Hardcore.

Influenced by the frantic vibe of upfront hardcore and the euphoric riffs in Freeform, Ian K. is constantly on the search for new sounds, new influences and new directions. As both an MC and a Producer, Ian is dedicated to pushing Stateside Hardcore.

It's amazing how things all come together from time to time. After getting back from LA I was suprised and happy to find out that Simon Apex will be coming back to the States in May! For those that do not know, Simon was responsible for Subsonic Underground records, the first stateside-based hardcore label. Along with a great record shop and putting on incredible events, Simon and Angela were in many ways responsible for me getting my break into the scene. He was the first person to ever get me (and DJ Dummy) booked out of state, and was the person responsible for me getting into production.

Just from a couple of days watching him work in his studio, I picked up all sorts of info on how to write dance music. Since his move to the UK he has been very helpful in showing me how I can improve my music, and always supportive of my endeavors into production. The news of his upcoming relocation back to the states, I am hopeful that I will be able to visit him on a regular basis to work in his studio and learn all I can from him.

In addition to this great news, Robbie Long will be visiting Seattle this weekend and I am booked to MC for him. Robbie is one of the great hardcore supporters and always brings an amazing set! My plan is to have some stuff to show Robbie, to at least maybe get some pointers or opinions on my productions. In any case it'll be a fun weekend and as usual I am hoping to have some good video and photos up after the party.
