Who is Ian K?

As a part of Hardscience Recordings, Ian K has always worked hard to bring hardcore to the people. After many years on the Mic as MC Verbal, Ian K stepped from behind the DJ to behind a computer, banging out his take on UK Hardcore.

Influenced by the frantic vibe of upfront hardcore and the euphoric riffs in Freeform, Ian K. is constantly on the search for new sounds, new influences and new directions. As both an MC and a Producer, Ian is dedicated to pushing Stateside Hardcore.

Well crap, so far my New Years Resolution of keeping up the blog is failing. Hopefully I'll keep at it in the coming months, there is a lot of cool stuff happening this Summer that I am getting to be a part of. But before that I want to re-cap the past few weeks, since a few cool events have happened that I was happy to be a part of.

On April 15th was Dance 3 by Check6 Productions, featuring Seth Hutton and J-Break. The cool thing about Check6, he is willing to try something new. This time Dance was held in a small warehouse in Kent, just south of Seattle. It was a mappoint party, and a lot of people showed up. Unfortunately too many, and the police got involved. Fortunately the event was allowed to continue, however they had to stop letting people in and people couldn't go outside to smoke. Some people were bummed, personally I had a great time. When we got there Terminus was rocking the crowd was some classic Hard House, then Jimini Cricket played another awesome happy hardcore set. I jumped on the mic to support her for a bit, since she always plays some of my favorite songs. I played next and holy crap it was a great time. People seemed to enjoy themselves and I got some great video.

Last weekend the 21st was Snoochie Boochies, a great event thrown by Skunky Beats. This night was at the CHAC, which is a space I really like. I was there to MC for No Left Turn and playing with Donny again was great. The crowd was awesome and with many thanks to Graz, we have some good photos of the night.

Now on to the cool stuff happening this summer. Simon Apex is moving back to the states and I am pretty excited, as he is going to be getting his studio set up in CA. I am planning on heading down there whenever I can to get some time in a proper studio with an excellent producer.

Another interesting turn this summer is thatI have really been getting interested in hard dance again! I took a bit of time away from anything but hardcore for much of the winter, and I am just really enjoying it a lot recently. After spending some time with Monkey talking about hard dance and trance, I started thinking about how fun it would be to write some. I now have a deadline, and due at that deadline is 1 hr of new Hard Trance. I am excited.
